First-generation cephalosporin for the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria susceptible to cephalexin. Useful in cases of pyoderma, soft tissue infections, respiratory infections, otitis media, bone and/or joint infections, and urinary tract infections.
Dose
General dose: 15 mg per kg of body weight every 8 or 12 hours, for 5 to 7 days. In case of severe infection, the dose can be doubled.
Rx Spectrum Cephalexin 75 mg:
Canines and felines: 1 tablet per 5 kg of body weight every 8 or 12 hours, for 5 to 7 days. In cases of pyoderma, a dose of 22 to 35 doses per kg of body weight every 12 hours is recommended, for a treatment period of 21 to 42 days, as required by the infection.
The dose may be modified at the veterinarian's discretion.
